Sexuality over the years has been a very debatable topic and has lead many to different understanding based on their own ideologies as it relates to gender and sexuality. These beliefs have shaped our society as to the appropriateness of sexual behavior as it relates to masculinity and femininity. First let us look at the how sexuality was viewed in ancient times. â€Å"The origins of sexual orientation have long since been a question that scientists and psychologists have longed to find an answer. While there has recently been more and more reliable and unbiased studies done in past and present years, there are still no conclusive answers as to what makes a person hetero- or homo- sexual. An empirical investigation of masculinity by Thompson and colleagues identified four central features of masculine identity: Men must be willing to take risks, and have a love of adventure, danger, and violence. Men must avoid doing anything that appears feminine in all areas of their lives, including career, interests, emotional vulnerability, and sexuality. Men must strive to be respected and admired through success and achievement, especially as breadwinners. Men must remain calm in hectic a nd frightening situations. They were given the more manly toys or manly ideas to help shape their masculinity. Boys were not given dolls and they were not treated in a soft manner so they eventually grew up with this idea that boys should be rough at all times. In terms of their sexuality, males in this society think that to properly display their masculinity they had to show that they have a level of interest in women as heterosexuality was a major part in a mans masculitnity. I grew up in a Christian family, so my opinion on abortion is very based on the Bible, which I entirely believe to be the ultimate source for knowledge and insight. I believe that abortion is murder, and that under no circumstances should it be legal, permissible or justified. Abortion is a topic that is affecting society strongly at the time, as it has been for decades. Many people believe that abortion should be legal if the mother chooses to have one, or that it should only be legal in the case of incest or rape. Other people believe that it is never acceptable and should be banned everywhere in the world. I believe it is always wrong and murder, and should never be allowed. The pain it causes the mother and the fetus and the fact that it is morally and Biblically wrong cause me to be pro-life. Roe. v. Cancer Cancer is one of the top causes of death in the world today. Studies show that one in three people will go through some form of cancer in their lifetime. There are various different kinds of cancer that effect different parts of the body. If cells break away from a malignant tumor, they will enter the bloodstream, and spread throughout the body, hurting other parts of the body. Cancer can also appear with no definite cause. However, there are some activities that people participate in, that increase the risk of cancer. Smoking can cause cancer of the lung, mouth, and throat. Alcohol can cause cancer of the mouth, throat, and liver. Also, exposure to radiation and sunlight can cause skin cancer. The accurate cause of cancer still remains a mystery. Cancer can be spotted early on by certain symptoms. As cancer progresses through it’s many stages, it will produce certain symptoms. The symptoms depend on the size and location of the cancer. In some areas, symptoms will not appear until the cancer is very large, making the cancer more difficult to treat. The general symptoms of cancer are fever, an alter of metabolism, fatigue, severe weight loss, weakness and dizziness, blood clots, and sores that don’t heal. There are many different ways of treatment for cancer. Surgery is usually the first choice of most patients. If the cancer is localized, meaning it hasn’t spread, surgery is the best option. The surgeon will remove the tumor and the surrounding tissue. Surgery offers the best chance of a cure. The next method of treatment, which is usually a patient’s second choice, is chemotherapy. This method treats cancer cells that have spread. Chemotherapy is used depending on the type of cancer, and the stage it is in. Chemotherapy specifically treats cancer by injecting strong medicine to a patient, and allowing the drugs to travel throughout the body. The side effects include vomiting, hair loss, infections, and fatigue. The last treatment, which is usually a last resort, is Radiation. It destroys cancer cells, so they don’t multiply. More than one half of people with cancer experience Radiation. Radiation is the process of external high-energy rays or implants inserted near the tumor, eliminating the cancer cells. With all kinds of cancer, there are seven main warning signs. These seven signs found in one person would show that the person may be suffering from some type of cancer, and this person should see a doctor immediately.
